Amazon is adding six figures to its already massive workforce ahead of the holidays.
The e-commerce giant plans to recruit 100,000 seasonal workers across the U.S. and Canada. The jobs are primarily related to the company’s operations division, which include warehouse, delivery and logistics roles.
“Amazon offers jobs for people of all backgrounds and skill levels, and these 100,000 new, seasonal jobs offer opportunities for pay incentives, benefits, and a path to a longer-term career, or can simply provide extra income and flexibility during the holiday season,” the company stated in a news release.
Since October 2018, the company has provided a $15 minimum wage, which extends to seasonal workers and gig workers who deliver packages through the Amazon Flex app.
In some locations, Amazon is also paying sign-up bonuses of up to $1,500.
Seasonal Jobs at Amazon
Seasonal openings comprise part- and full-time positions. The majority of them are entry-level, though some may require experience.
According to the hiring announcement, seasonal openings in Amazon’s “operations network” include:
- Order stowers, pickers, packers and shippers.
- Package delivery drivers.
- Managers.
- Safety ambassadors.
- Related roles in operations HR, IT and robotics.
These positions are available across Amazon’s fulfillment, cargo and Prime Now centers as well as Whole Foods locations.
Amazon’s job board indicates the most frequent openings are for warehouse workers, package sorters and part-time grocery shoppers. Such jobs don’t require any experience. A high school diploma or GED is all you’ll need to qualify.

The application process doesn’t even require a resume or a job interview, and the positions could start in as little as one week from the time you apply.
While no work history is necessary in most cases, delivery and warehouse positions are physically demanding. You’ll need to be on your feet and may be required to move or carry heavy packages and orders. To qualify for a driving position, you’ll need to have a valid license, and you must be at least 21.
According to the hiring announcement, seasonal positions provide a pathway toward permanent work at Amazon.
The company boasts a culture of internal promotion and career development. Amazon said it promoted 35,000 operations employees this year and invested $60 million into its Career Choice professional development program. The program trains Amazon workers for in-demand jobs, regardless of whether those positions are at Amazon or at other companies.
This latest batch of seasonal jobs at Amazon is in addition to the 130,000 permanent jobs the company announced in September.
Amazon is one of several employers staffing up ahead of the holiday season. The Penny Hoarder has tallied more than half a million seasonal job openings this year.
